Signal Report
The Signal Report custom tool calculates a comprehensive set of numerical metrics that describe the current signal. The results are presented directly within SIGVIEW as standard windows (e.g. signal, instrument, or analysis windows), allowing the user to inspect all calculated values interactively.
The tool analyzes the signal and generates a broad range of metrics covering different aspects of the data, such as amplitude statistics, time-domain characteristics, distribution-related values, and selected spectral descriptors. These values are displayed in separate windows and can be further processed using standard SIGVIEW functionality.
It is important to note that the Signal Report tool itself does not save any data to a file. It performs only the calculation and visualization of the metrics inside the workspace. For automatically saving the report in a file, see AI signal report functions
Background and purpose
The main purpose of the Signal Report tool is to provide a complete and structured set of signal characteristics in a single step. Instead of calculating individual values manually, the user obtains a ready-to-use collection of metrics that describe the signal from multiple perspectives.
This makes it useful for:
•quickly assessing key properties of a signal
•comparing multiple signals using a consistent set of metrics
•preparing data for further analysis within SIGVIEW
•serving as a feature extraction step for automated workflows
