Selecting Part of the Signal
You can select any continuous part of a signal directly inside the signal window:
How to select a range
- Move the mouse cursor over the signal.
- Press and hold the left mouse button.
- Drag the cursor left or right to mark a region.
The selected region will be highlighted using inverted colors.
Extending the selection
While holding the mouse button during selection, you can press:
- Home → extend the selection to the beginning of the signal
- End → extend the selection to the end of the signal
Tooltip with selection details
During selection, SIGVIEW shows a small tooltip near the mouse cursor containing the start, end, and length of the selected range. This makes it easy to check the exact time/frequency span you are selecting.

Viewing exact selection values
After selecting a region, right-click anywhere inside it.
The context menu will show:
- Exact start position
- Exact end position
- Exact length of the selected segment
This is particularly useful for measurement tasks such as:
- Determining the time difference between two FFT peaks
- Checking the duration of a specific waveform segment
- Measuring distances between features inside a signal
