To document information about Workspaces or single Windows, you can edit corresponding description text and save it into the workspace.

SIGVIEW  includes a documentation feature that allows you to add descriptive notes to your Workspace and individual Windows. These descriptions are saved along with the Workspace file and provide an easy way to document your analysis, making your work clearer, more organized, and easier to revisit later.

How to Add or Edit Descriptions from the Main Menu

Workspace Description:

Go to Edit/Edit Workspace description... to add or edit a general description of the entire Workspace.

Current Window Description:

Go to Edit/Edit Window description... to document the purpose, configuration, or content of the currently active signal or analysis window.

Then, enter the description in the following dialog:

Using the Control Window to View/Edit Descriptions

The Control Window provides an intuitive way to access Workspace description via the Info icon located in the top-left corner:

  • If the icon is gray, the Workspace does not have a description.
  • If the icon is white, a Workspace description exists. Hover your mouse over the icon to preview it.
  • Click the icon to open a dialog for viewing or editing the Workspace description.

For individual windows:

  • A small (i) icon will appear next to the window’s entry in the Control Window if it contains a description.
  • Hover over the icon to view the window’s description.

Saving and Loading Descriptions

Descriptions are fully integrated into the Workspace file structure:

  • When you load a Workspace, all associated descriptions (for the Workspace and each window) are automatically restored.
  • When you save a Workspace - either manually or automatically when exiting SIGVIEW - all current descriptions are saved as part of the file.
  • If you use Window / Close All, the Workspace description will be cleared along with all open windows.
